Nestled in the Sussex Downs approximately half-way between London
and Brighton, Crawley is ideally situated for the commuter, with
rail and bus links to both cities and the nearby Gatwick
Airport.
The town is divided into 13 'boroughs' and each borough has it's
own selection of local shops, sports facilities and transport links
in addition to sharing the centrally located shopping
centre and
Leisure Centre.
The town is currently enjoying a large element of development and
rejuvenation, and boasts one of the best shopping
centres in the
region and a new leisure park with restaurants, health club, bowling
and a 14-screen cinema. In addition, the historic high street
is now home to many new bars and cafés and acts as the centre
of a bustling night-life.
Surrounded by green belt, Crawley benefits from a number
of easliy accessible parks, lakes and woodlands, including Tilgate
Park, home of Tilgate Lake where Campbell tested his boat 'Bluebird'
prior to achieving the water speed record, and its location facilitates
both those wanting to experience the bright lights of the City and
those wanting to relax with a day-trip to the South coast.
